John Moor, Mayor

Professional Profile

First Elected: 2013
Preferred method of contact: Email

Starting in 1980, I began working for the city, and retired from the Department of Public Maintenance in 2011 as its Deputy Director.

Asbury Park deserves leadership that governs through common sense. Decisions made at city hall, no matter how small, should be treated as matters that affect the city as a whole, not just certain sections. It is my hope that I can continue to serve the people of Asbury Park and, as your Mayor, help create a better community for everyone.

Community Organizations/Boards Served:
  • Asbury Park Community Action Network (APCAN)
  • Asbury Park Fishing Club
  • Asbury Park Housing Authority
  • Asbury Park Planning Board
  • Greater Asbury Park Community Development Initiative Co-Chair
  • Mayor’s Wellness Committee
  • 2017 League of Municipalities Moderator
Personal Summary

I have called Asbury Park home since 1977. There was something special about raising my family in a city that is so cultured and diverse and being able to pass on my appreciation for its history and hope for its future. Serving this community has been a privilege, and I wish to continue creating a better city as your Mayor. Outside of work I have dedicated countless hours to a variety of causes in Asbury Park. For 12 years I was as an elected member of the Asbury Park Board of Education, in addition to serving as a Director of the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce, member of the Asbury Park Quincentennial Committee, Centennial/Memorial Day Parade Committee, and Asbury Park Recreation Committee.
